Have you checked out the new Amazfit Active 2 (Square)? This smartwatch is solid – 60Hz AMOLED display, leather and silicon straps, GPS, and plenty of fitness tracking features, all for just ₹12,999. I tested it for more than a week, and it’s easy to imagine even for a 15-year-old. Let’s see what’s in it, what’s not, and whether it can save your money.

What’s in the Box?

The box has a clean design with the watch’s photo and features printed on the back. Inside, you find: the watch, user manual, an orange-red silicon strap (great for gym), and a USB charging puck. There’s no USB-C cable, but your phone’s cable will work. The magnetic charging puck sticks firmly to the back of the watch. The packaging is simple, but the watch feels premium right out of the box.

Design: Style Factor

The square stainless steel body with a chrome bezel looks stylish. The leather strap is soft and pairs well with the buckle. At just 9mm thin and 31g (without straps), it’s so light you may forget you’re wearing it. The 20mm straps can be swapped easily between leather and silicon.

On the back are a heart rate sensor, SpO2 sensor, and charging terminals. It has 5 ATM water resistance, making it safe for rain, workouts, or swimming. Swim tracking and a water drain feature are included. Two buttons, a mic, and a speaker are on the side. The chrome body does catch smudges but is easy to clean.

Display: Clear and Smooth

It sports a 1.75-inch AMOLED display with 390×450 resolution. Colors are bright, blacks are deep, and text looks sharp. The 60Hz refresh rate makes scrolling smooth. With 2000 nits brightness, it’s readable even outdoors. Bezels are slightly large but blend with black watch faces. Always-on display has multiple styles, and night mode themes can be set in red, green, or orange.

Interface: Simple and Accessible

The top button opens the menu, the bottom is a workout shortcut. Swipe right for a dashboard with music, weather, steps, and heart rate. Swipe up for quick toggles like brightness, torch, Bluetooth, and water drain. Auto-brightness helps save battery. Watch faces can be downloaded from the Zepp app, including animated options. Connecting Bluetooth earphones is quick for both music and calls.

Health and Fitness: Comprehensive Tracking

One-tap measurement checks heart rate, SpO2, stress, and breathing rate in 45 seconds (for general reference, not medical use). There are 160+ workout modes including running, cycling, swimming, yoga, tennis, and dance. Built-in GPS locks quickly, and offline maps can be downloaded from the Zepp app. Live maps during trekking ensure you never get lost.

Sleep tracking is accurate, showing light sleep, deep sleep, and total time. Stress tracking, menstrual cycle tracking, and meditation are also available.

Calling and Music: Functional and Convenient

With a built-in speaker and mic, calls can be made directly from the watch. It includes a dial pad, recent calls, and contact access. Audio is clear indoors and outdoors, and the mic filters background noise well. The vibration motor is loud in quiet rooms but can be turned off. You can save songs on the watch or control phone music. The speaker works fine, though Bluetooth earphones are better for music.

Battery: Reliable Performance

A 260mAh battery lasts 4-5 days with GPS and always-on display enabled, which is less than the claimed 10 days but still solid. Full charging takes under 2 hours. The slim profile likely wouldn’t be possible with a bigger battery.

Zepp App: Organized and Useful

Available for Android and iOS, the Zepp app shows health data like sleep, steps, calories, heart rate, and stress in detail. You can download watch faces and apps, get workout plans from Zepp Coach, manage maps, and set reminders.

Price

The square version with leather and silicon straps costs ₹12,999, while the round version with silicon strap costs ₹9,999. Considering the premium design, AMOLED display, GPS, and extensive fitness features, this is a strong value proposition.
