How to delete photos from iCloud

Using the Photos application is a quick and easy way to remove photos from iCloud. To delete photos from iCloud, however, you must first make a backup of your data. To remove photos from iCloud, adhere to the instructions below:

  • Launch the Photos app on your iPhone.
  • Click the Library icon in the bottom left corner of the screen.
  • Select “All Photos”, from the options
  • In the corner of the screen tap on “Select”.
  • Choose the pictures and videos that you wish to delete from your iCloud account.
  • After selecting them tap on the trash icon at the bottom. Then press “Delete”.
  • It’s important to note that after deletion these pictures and videos may remain on your computer for a period of 30 days.

The Recently Deleted folder in the Photos app is where you should look if you want to permanently delete photos from iCloud and your iPhone. Select the option, tap the three horizontal dots, and then select Delete All. Photos will be permanently deleted from iCloud and all Apple devices connected.

How to delete photos from iCloud but not from the iPhone?

Step1: Turn Off iCloud Photos

  • Open the Settings option.
  • Scroll down and click on Photos
  • Then turn-off iCloud Photos icon
  • To remove low-resolution copies from your iPhone, select Remove from iPhone in the pop-up that appears on the screen.
  • Before deleting any photos, tap on Download Photos and Videos if you want to restore the originals to your iPhone from iCloud.
  • To connect any additional device to your Apple ID, follow the same procedure as above. The photos on every device will be handled separately if the iCloud Photos toggle is off.

Step 2: Remove photos from iCloud

  • To start, open your web browser. Navigate to iCloud.com. There, click on the “Sign In” button. Enter your Apple ID and password.
  • Next, select the “Photos” app, from the options available.
  • In the left hand menu you’ll find a tab labeled “Library.” Click on it to proceed.
  • To delete images or videos simply choose them individually.
  • If you want to select items at once, hold down either the “Command” key (on Mac) or the “Control” key (on Windows) while clicking on each desired item.
  • Alternatively if you want to select all photos on either a Mac or Windows PC, press either “Command + A” or “Control + A.”
  • Finally look for the trash can icon, in the right corner of your screen and click on it. You will be prompted to confirm your choice before pressing the Delete button.

Deleted items will be transferred to the Deleted folder, where you can access them for a period of 30 days. But if you want to permanently delete your iCloud pictures then select the Recently Deleted file then tap on Delete All button.
