Lava has launched its new phone, the Blaze AMOLED 2 5G, in India, and it is here to make a splash in the budget segment! With a MediaTek Dimensity 7060 chip, a 6.67-inch AMOLED display, and a 50MP camera, this phone seems to be an absolutely solid deal. I tested it – from daily use to gaming – and I am going to tell you whether this phone is worth your money or not. Let’s see in plain and simple language what’s special about it!
What’s in the Box?
The box is quite simple but gives a premium vibe. Inside you find the phone, Type-C cable, SIM ejector pin, and some paperwork. Charger? Yes, a 33W fast charger is included in the box – a big deal in budget phones! A pre-applied screen protector is also included. Upon unboxing, it appears that Lava has put in a little effort in the packaging as well.
Design: Slim and Stylish
This phone is quite thin – just 7.55mm thick and 174g in weight, which feels quite light and comfortable in the hand. The back has a Linea design – unique textures that look cool from different angles. Colours are Feather White and Midnight Black – Feather White looks really fresh! There is a plastic frame but with a premium finish, it doesn’t look cheap. There is dust and splash resistance along with IP64 rating, which is rare in this price range. The grip in the hand is great and the phone feels really sleek.
Camera: 50MP Main
Camera setup is simple – there is a 50MP Sony IMX752 main camera with LED flash at the back and an 8MP selfie camera at the front. The main camera gives sharp photos in daylight – colours are natural, details are good and HDR also works well. In portrait mode, edge detection is quite accurate, but there is a bit of over-sharpening. In low-light, the photos are decent, but there is a bit of noise – this is expected at this price.
Selfie camera is average – okay during the day, but details become less at night. Video recording is limited to 1080p@30fps, which is a bit lacking, because it would have been better if there was 4K support. Overall, the camera is enough for daily use and social media, but if you do heavy photography, then you will have to compromise a little.
Display: AMOLED Advantage
It has a 6.67-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display, with 120Hz refresh rate. Colours are vibrant, blacks are deep, and with 1000 nits peak brightness, it looks clear even in the sun. HDR support is also there, so watching content on YouTube or Netflix is a pleasure. The hole-punch cutout is small, which makes the bezels even slimmer. The display is excellent for gaming and videos – getting AMOLED at this price is a great deal.
Performance: Smooth in Budget
It has MediaTek Dimensity 7060 (6nm), which is solid for this price. With 6GB LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB UFS 3.1 storage, apps open quickly and multitasking is smooth. The AnTuTu score is around ~5,50,000, which is enough for daily use. Games like BGMI and Free Fire run comfortably at 60fps, but there can be slight frame drops (50-55fps) after long gaming. The heating control is good with the dedicated cooling chamber – the phone heated up to 40-42°C even after heavy gaming.
Android 15 is out of the box, which gives a clean experience – no ads, no bloatware. One major OS update (Android 16) and 2 years of security updates will be available. The software is smooth, but the customization options are a bit less.
Battery: Will Last a Long Day
It has a 5000mAh battery, which easily lasts for 1.5-2 days in normal use. It gives 7-8 hours of screen-on time even in heavy use. With 33W fast charging, 50% charge is done in ~35 minutes. Charger is in the box, so no need to buy separately.
Audio and Extras: Some Special, Some Basic
There are dual stereo speakers, which give clear and loud sound. In-display fingerprint scanner is fast and reliable. Connectivity includes 5G (SA/NSA), Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.3, and USB-C 2.0. There is also a microSD slot that can expand up to 1TB of storage. There is no NFC.
Pricing: Value for Money?
The 6GB+128GB variant is priced at ₹13,499 and will be available on Amazon and Lava retail stores from August 16. Getting an AMOLED display, clean software and solid battery life at this price is an excellent deal. Lava also has a doorstep after-sales service.
