Friends, if you are looking for budget-friendly 5G smartphones, then listen up! Lava has launched its new Storm series in India, and both these phones – Lava Storm Lite and Lava Storm Play 5G – are ready to make a splash on Amazon. You will get every detail about them by reading this post, so read it from beginning to end, because these phones are truly value-for-money!
First Impression of Lava Storm Series

Both these phones give off a premium vibe, which is hardly available in this price range. The back panel of the Storm Lite comes with a glossy finish and there is a squarish camera module on top, which looks quite sleek and modern.
Similarly, the Storm Play 5G has a vertical camera setup, which feels a little more stylish. Personally, I like the design of the Storm Play a step forward – which one did you like more?
The front of both phones has a 6.75-inch HD+ IPS LCD display, which has a 120Hz refresh rate. This is perfect for smooth scrolling and gaming. With a waterdrop notch design, this display is also quite decent for outdoor visibility.
The frame is made of plastic, but feels solid due to the boxy design. Plus, the IP64 rating means it is safe from a little dust and water splashes. For security, there is a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and face unlock as well.
Camera: How will the photos come?
If you are a photography enthusiast, these phones won’t disappoint. Both have a 50MP Sony IMX752 primary rear camera, which delivers sharp and vibrant photos in this price segment. The Storm Play also has an extra 2MP secondary sensor, which comes in handy for depth effects.
For selfies, the Storm Play has an 8MP front camera, while the Storm Lite has a 5MP front camera. These cameras are perfect for day-to-day social media posts and video calls.
Performance:
Now let’s talk about the performance! Storm Lite is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 6400 chipset, which is a newly launched processor and comes with 4 lakh+ AnTuTu score.
It is smooth enough for daily tasks, light gaming, and multitasking. Similarly, Storm Play 5G is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 7060 chipset, which is the world’s first in its segment and comes with 5 lakh+ AnTuTu score. It is a bit more powerful, especially for gaming and heavy apps.
Talking about storage and RAM:
- Storm Lite: 4GB LPDDR4x RAM (+4GB virtual RAM) and 64GB/128GB UFS 2.2 storage
- Storm Play: 6GB LPDDR5 RAM (+6GB virtual RAM) and 128GB UFS 3.1 storage
The storage in both phones is expandable via microSD card, so no space issues!
Battery and Software: How much will it last?
Both phones have 5000mAh battery, which can easily last more than a day. Storm Lite has 15W Type-C charging, while Storm Play has 18W charging support. Charger will be available in the box, which is a big relief!
In terms of software, Lava has given a clean experience. Both phones run on Android 15, which is bloatware-free. Plus, Lava has promised that a major Android upgrade and 2 years of security updates will be available. This is rare in this price range!
