Misleading Medical Advice—Still a Risk

The document also said that the AI could share medical information that is false, as long as it is marked as untrue. For example, the AI could say a false claim about someone having a disease like chlamydia but add a note that it is wrong. While some may think adding a note makes it safe, health experts say that wrong medical information can still spread quickly and be believed by people.

Even if marked false, such wrong health details can confuse people, create panic, or cause them to take wrong actions. This is not good for AI safety because medical topics are very sensitive and need to be accurate and safe for users at all times.

Hate Speech and Disturbing Content Allowed

The same rules also allowed the bot to make hate speech or racist content if it was in an argumentative form. As an example, a bot might produce a paragraph stating that one race is dumber than another one. Cases like that should not be given a place to even be used as an argument, as normalization of the harmful language and ideas can occur. The document also allowed the creation of violent or harmful images, like showing someone threatening another person with a chainsaw, as long as there was no gore.

It even permitted showing fights between adults if there was no blood. These allowances show how these rules were not strict enough to protect users from harmful or disturbing material. For a company that has millions of users worldwide, such weak rules can easily lead to dangerous outcomes.

Meta Responds—but Are Changes Enough?

Meta has confirmed that the document is real but said that some of the examples were wrong and not in line with the company’s actual policy. They also said they have removed those examples from the rules. A Meta spokesperson stated that sexualizing children is not allowed and that updates are being made to fix the issues. While this response is important, many people are still questioning if the changes are enough.
