In 2025, all smartphone brands are focusing on one thing – big battery! Phones up to 7550mAh are visible in the market, but POCO launched a phone for less than ₹15,000 which comes with 7000mAh battery. Today we will talk about POCO M7 Plus 5G – how is its design, performance, camera, and battery life, and is this phone worth your money? Let’s start the review straight away!

What’s in the box?

The box comes in a very vibrant yellow colour, in which the POCO branding is clearly visible. Inside you find a solid quality black case, which is not transparent but textured and colorful – a very premium feel! It also comes with a Type-A to Type-C cable, 33W Xiaomi-branded charger, SIM ejector pin, and a quick start guide. Opening the box, it feels like this phone is something different. After setting it up, let’s check out its features.

Design: Big but Comfortable

This phone feels big in the hand – like a small tablet! With a 6.9-inch FHD+ LCD display, this phone looks very big. With a 144Hz refresh rate and 850 nits brightness, there is no problem while scrolling and watching content. Colors are vibrant, contrast is good, and the dynamic range is solid too – perfect for watching movies or reels.

The build is all plastic, but the grip is great with rounded corners and boxy frame. Thickness is 8.4mm and weight is 219g. Colors are Chrome Silver, Aqua Blue, and Carbon Black. The Chrome Silver one looks really futuristic, with red and blue strips – this design is rare in the market. Tell me in the comments, which color did you like?

It has an IP64 rating, which means the phone is safe from light water splashes or dust. There is a single speaker, which goes up to 200% volume – the sound is clear, but misses a little bass. Overall, the design and build are quite decent for this price.

Performance: Smooth in Daily Use

It has Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 processor, which gives 4.5 lakh+ score on AnTuTu. One can play BGMI smoothly on ultra settings, but there is no gyroscope support, so it is a bit lacking. There was no lag or jitter in gameplay – it runs very smoothly on normal settings. It handles light games like Subway Surfers easily. In daily use – switching apps, YouTube, or multitasking – there is no hindrance. Apps open quickly, and animations are smooth.

The software is clean with HyperOS 2.0 (Android 15). There is a little bloatware (Hot Apps, Hot Games), but you can delete it. There is a promise of 2 years of OS updates and 4 years of security updates, which is good in this segment. There is also anonymous call recording – can record calls without notification, which is quite useful.

Battery: Powerhouse!

The 7000mAh battery is the biggest USP of this phone, which supports 33W fast charging and 18W reverse charging. Meaning, this phone can also become a power bank – can charge other devices at 18W. It easily lasts for 1.5 days in normal use. Even with heavy use (gaming, videos), it gives 8-10 hours of screen-on time. Battery optimization is great and the 33W charger gives a full charge in 1 hour. Nobody gives so much battery backup in this price range!

Camera: Decent but not perfect

There is a 50MP main camera and a secondary lens in the back, 8MP selfie camera in the front. Photos are sharp during the day, details are good and colours are natural. Indoor shots are quite clear even in low-light. Selfie camera does a bit of smoothening but maintains the texture of the face.

The camera is decent in this budget but nothing special – don’t expect DSLR-like output. There is 1080p 30fps video recording, which is quite clear. There are many camera modes – portrait, night mode, watermark – which you can explore. Overall, the camera is fine for this price.

Connectivity and Extras

There are 20 bands with 5G support, so there was no issue in the network. There is Wi-Fi 5.1 and Bluetooth 5.1. Side-mounted fingerprint scanner is fast, and there is also IR blaster – can control AC or TV. There is dual nano-SIM slot, and storage is available in variants of 128GB (6GB/8GB RAM).

Pricing:

POCO M7 Plus 5G is on sale on Flipkart from 19 August. The price of 6GB+128GB starts from ₹12,999 and 8GB+128GB is available for ₹13,999. Launch offers include ₹1000 bank discount (HDFC/ICICI/SBI) or ₹1000 exchange bonus. Such a big battery, 6.9-inch display, and decent performance at this price is a real steal deal!
