Realme has launched its new Realme P4 Pro 5G, and its gaming performance is quite hyped, especially for BGMI. It has a dual-chip setup – Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 and HyperVision AI chip, which promises 144fps gaming and 1.5K resolution.

We recently did a review of this phone, you can read the review by clicking here. This phone comes with a slim design, big battery, and premium features, but does it really fulfill its claims? I did its BGMI gaming test – checked FPS, gyro, battery drain, and thermals. Let’s come to the point and see how its real performance is!

  • 8GB+256GB: ₹26,999

Design and Build: Powerful on paper

This phone is just 7.68mm thick and weighs 189g, which makes it extremely sleek and lightweight. The back has Birch Wood finish, which looks premium with the wooden texture. With IP65/IP66 rating, it is dust and water resistant, but not as good as IP68. The 6.8-inch HyperGlow 4D Curve+ AMOLED display comes with 144Hz refresh rate, which gives a very smooth feel while gaming and scrolling. There are also dual stereo speakers and IR blaster, which is quite useful.

Camera: Bonus with Gaming

There is a 50MP Sony IMX896 OIS sensor and 8MP ultra-wide lens in the back, and a 50MP selfie camera in the front. Both support 4K@60fps video recording. The camera is quite good at this price, but the focus is on gaming tests, so we won’t stop much on this.

Battery: Big Backup

With 7000mAh Titan battery, this phone is made for heavy gaming. 80W Ultra Charge can charge 50% in 25 minutes. There is also a Bypass charging feature which reduces heat while gaming and protects battery life.

Gaming Test Setup

I tested BGMI at full brightness and full volume with 144Hz refresh rate. GT Mode was on which gives max performance. In gaming settings, I turned on Smooth + Extreme+ (90fps native) and AI Hyper Motion which claims 144fps frame interpolation. Gyroscope was also on. Room temperature was 29°C and the initial temperature of the phone was 34°C from the front and 33°C from the back. Battery was 51% before starting the test.

Gaming Features

  • GT Mode + GT Boost: For peak performance.
  • AI Stable Frame: Reduces frame drops.
  • AI Hyper Motion: Up to 144fps frame interpolation.
  • Touch Optimization: Smooth response with 2500Hz touch sampling rate.
  • Bypass Charging: Manages heat during gaming.
  • Game Filters: Boosts colors.
  • Network Optimization: For stable connection.

BGMI Gaming Test: FPS and Gyro

TDM (15 Minutes)

  • FPS: Initially showed 144fps, but was not consistent. The average was between 120-130fps. Even with AI Hyper Motion, 144fps was not a constant, but the gameplay was absolutely smooth.
  • Gyroscope: The gyro response was like butter – no lag, aiming was precise.
  • Touch Response: The controls were quite responsive due to the 2500Hz touch sampling rate. Multi-touch inputs were also handled smoothly.
  • Thermals: After 15 minutes front 39.5°C and back 38.3°C. 7000mm² AirFlow VC cooling system managed the heat well, there was no major throttling.

Erangel (15 Minutes)

  • FPS: 140fps in the lobby, remained stable between 140-144fps even after parachuting and landing. Did not drop below 130fps even in intense fights. AI Stable Frame worked, but the claim of 144fps seemed a bit overhyped.
  • Gyroscope: Gyro performance remained consistent, no issue even in long sessions.
  • Thermals: At the end of 30 minutes front 40°C and back 39°C. Felt a bit warm, but not uncomfortable.
  • Battery Drain: 51% to 42% (8% drain in 30 minutes). It is quite good in High performance mode. You will get better backup in Normal mode.

Performance: Dual-Chip Magic

The combo of Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 (4nm, octa-core) and HyperVision AI chip makes this phone stand out in this segment. The AnTuTu score is ~1.1M, which is quite impressive for a mid-range. With LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 3.1 storage, apps and games load quickly, but LPDDR5X would be even more future-proof. With GT Performance Engine 3.0 and cooling system, performance doesn’t degrade even during long gaming sessions.

Battery Drain and Charging

30 minutes of gaming drained 8% of the battery, which is solid for a massive 7000mAh battery. Under normal use, it can easily last for 1.5 days. Full charge is done in ~47 minutes with 80W charger, and there is also 10W reverse charging.

Display and Audio

The 6.8-inch 1.5K HyperGlow AMOLED display is extremely vibrant with 144Hz refresh rate and 6500 nits peak brightness. Colors pop, and outdoor visibility is also top-notch. Dual stereo speakers are loud, but bass is a bit low. For gaming the sound is quite clear.

Software

Realme UI 6 (Android 15) is smooth, and there is a promise of 3 years of OS updates and 4 years of security updates. There is some bloatware, but it can be uninstalled. AI features like AI Edit Genie and game optimization are quite useful.

Conclusion

Yes, 144fps is not constant, and it would have been even better if it had LPDDR5X/UFS 4.0.
