Redmi 15 5G is going to be launched in India today at 12 noon, and excitement is at its peak! This phone is known for its big battery and solid specs. I checked all the details about it – design, performance, camera, everything. Let’s see what this phone has brought and whether it fits in the budget of around ₹15,000!

Launch and Availability

Redmi 15 5G is launching in India today, on 19 August 2025. The event can be watched live on YouTube, and the phone will be available soon on Amazon, Mi.com, and offline stores. Expected price is ~ ₹15,000 to ₹19,999, depending on the variant. Colours include Midnight Black, Frosted White, and Sandy Purple – Frosted White gives a very different vibe! Let me know in the comments, which colour did you like?

Design: Slim Par Solid

The design of this phone is very sleek – 8.4mm thin and 217g weight. There is polycarbonate at the back, but the aerospace-grade metal camera island adds a premium touch. There is dust and water resistance with IP64 rating, which is enough for daily use. The in-hand feel is good, and the colours are vibrant. The Midnight Black display looks classy, but the Sandy Purple is also quite stylish. Build quality is solid for the price.

Display: Big and Smooth

This phone comes with a 6.9-inch Full HD+ LCD display that offers a 144Hz refresh rate. The display feels smooth while gaming and scrolling. There are TUV Rheinland Low Blue Light, Flicker-Free, and Circadian Friendly certifications that keep the eyes comfortable for long periods of time. Brightness is good outdoors as well, but colours can look a bit flat due to the lack of AMOLED. Still, the display is good in this segment.

Performance: Enough for daily use

The Redmi 15 5G has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 chip, which is quite reliable in the mid-range. This is like an overclocked Snapdragon 695, but is smooth enough for daily tasks and gaming. With 6GB or 8GB RAM (and up to 16GB virtual RAM extension), there is no lag in multitasking.

Games like BGMI run smoothly on medium settings, but there can be slight frame drops in heavy gaming. Runs on HyperOS 2.2 (Android 15), which is clean and fast. You will get 2 years of OS updates and 4 years of security updates, which is good at this price. There are also features like Gemini AI and Circle to Search, which make daily use more interesting.

Camera: Solid Output with AI

The camera setup has a 50MP primary sensor and a 2MP secondary sensor, and an 8MP selfie camera on the front. Photos are sharp and colorful during daylight, but there can be some noise in low-light. AI features like AI Erase, AI Sky, and classic film filters make the photos unique.

The bokeh effect is good in portrait shots, but edge detection seems a bit weak at times. The selfie camera is good enough for daily use, but lacks a bit in details. Video recording is smooth up to 1080p, but there is no 4K support, which was expected in this segment.

Battery: Two Days of Backup

The 7000mAh silicon-carbon battery is the biggest USP of this phone! Such a big battery in such a slim phone – amazing! In normal use, it easily lasts for 2 days – gives a backup of 55 hours of Spotify, 23 hours of YouTube, or 17 hours of Instagram Reels. Full charge is done in ~1 hour with 33W fast charging, and you can also charge other devices with 18W reverse charging. In hibernation mode, you get 7-8 hours of standby time even on 1% battery – an absolute game-changer!

Audio and Extras: Work

There is a Dolby-certified single speaker, which is loud with 200% super volume, but due to the absence of a stereo setup, it feels a bit lacking. Call quality and sound are good enough for daily use. The side-mounted fingerprint scanner is fast, and face unlock is also reliable. There is Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, and 5G support (with Indian bands). There is no IR blaster, which is a little disappointing.

Pricing and Variants

  • 6GB + 128GB: ~₹15,000
  • 8GB + 256GB: ~₹17,999-₹19,999

Getting such a big battery, smooth display, and HyperOS features at this price is great value for money. Compared to competitors like Samsung Galaxy F36 5G or Oppo K13, this phone is ahead in battery and display, but lags behind in camera.
