Samsung launches its S-series every year in January – the S24 and S25 were both launched then. But this time, something different is happening with the S26 series. Due to last-minute changes, the launch has been delayed – it’s now expected by the end of February or March. The phone won’t be available until then, and the big news is that the S26 Edge won’t be launched at all!

Samsung saw that the S25 Edge had very poor sales – even with offers in India, it was priced around ₹1 lakh, and people weren’t buying it. They don’t want to take that risk again, so they’ve completely canceled the Edge model. Now the focus is only on the S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra.

Processor

In the US, China, and Japan, the S26 Ultra will come with the Snapdragon 8 Elite J5.
In all other countries (including India), it will have the Exynos 2600 – which is built on a 2nm process.

According to leaks so far, the Exynos 2600‘s CPU score looks even better than the Snapdragon 8 Elite Zen5 and the iPhone 17 Pro’s A19 Pro. The GPU is also close. The NPU (AI part) is 6 times more powerful than the S25 Ultra. But the concerns are:

  • Exynos always lags a bit in power efficiency → it consumes more battery.
  • The 5G modem is different → this can affect signal strength and battery drain.
  • More frequent network switching (4G ↔ 5G) leads to even more battery drain.

The Samsung S24 had the Exynos processor, then during the Flipkart Big Billion Days sale, they relaunched it with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 – people bought it for ₹40,000 and criticized the Exynos version. Now, if sales of the S26 Ultra are poor due to the Exynos processor, they might launch a Snapdragon variant later. My gut feeling says this could happen.

Design Changes

The S25 Ultra had a thickness of 8.2mm – now the S26 Ultra will be 7.9mm. The battery will remain the same 5000mAh (no silicon-carbon battery yet). Charging speed could go up to 60W (it was 45W before). The rear camera module will be slightly changed – now it will have an integrated look like the Fold 7, unlike the separate lenses seen before.

Camera

The S25 Ultra had a 200MP HP2 sensor – great in daylight, very weak in low light.
Now leaks suggest that three camera sensors are being changed (main + ultra-wide + telephoto are all new).

If Samsung also improves image processing and reduces noise in low light, this phone could become the camera king. We will compare it with the Vivo X300 Pro and Oppo Find X9 Pro when it launches.

Display

This time you’ll get an M14 OLED panel – the same one that’s in the iPhone 17 Pro.

  • Brighter
  • Better touch sampling rate
  • More power efficient
  • 144Hz refresh rate
  • 10-bit color
  • Hardware-level Privacy Mode (no one will be able to see the screen from the side)

Pricing and Final Thoughts

In India, the starting price of the S26 Ultra will probably be around ₹1.2-1.3 lakh.
If the Exynos variant disappoints in terms of battery and heating, people will be very angry – because compromises are not acceptable in a ₹1 lakh+ phone.

Now we have to wait until February-March. As soon as it launches, I will do a full review, camera comparison, and real battery test. Until then, tell me in the comments – will you get the Snapdragon version or will you manage with the Exynos one?
