As per reports Apple is planning to shift its iPhone camera sensors from Sony to Samsung. Samsung is also said to be developing an all-new “3-layer stacked” picture sensor dedicated to use by Apple.
This was based on a breaking rumor shared by leaker Jukanlosreve on the X(social media platform formerly known as Twitter).
It is believed that this sensor will be far better than Sony Exmor RS sensors which have been the part of iPhones for over a decade.
Further, it is mentioned in the report that, Samsung sensor could enhance the photographic capability of the phone.
If these things are true then it is possible Apple may sever ties with Samsung and Sony for a critical component in the iPhone. Let us know about this in detail.
Most Innovative Samsung Product
In the X post, the leaker said that “Samsung is currently working on the “3-layer stacked” image sensor for Apple in the PD-TR-Logic format. This sensor is better than Sony’s current Exmor RS, and I don’t think we can rule this sensor out of the possibilities for the main sensor.
Samsung is designing a triple-layered image sensor for the Apple smartphone, at the same time, it’s also planning to create a 500MP sensor for its Galaxy line of smartphones.
Samsung needs to take the fight with Sony. This can happen by leveraging the capability of the iPhone.
By implementing the physical stacking of the sensor with a processor on the device, the camera’s response and data transfer will benefit from the new stacked sensor.
Samsung’s sensor improving iPhone’s camera capabilities
Adopting Samsung’s stacked camera sensor layers can let Apple make processing speed, efficiency, and image quality better.
This sensor might prove highly useful in smartphones, where being able to take pictures as fast as possible is of the essence.
Sony has been supplying iPhone camera sensors since 2011 so if this news is true it will be a massive change.
This is expected to make the iPhone better in terms of noise reduction and faster processing all in a small space which is suitable for gadgets such as the rumored iPhone 17 Slim.
Apple is also reportedly developing its integrated to handle modem duties instead of relying on Qualcomm for these parts.
In addition, to eliminate its dependence on Broadcom components, the business is also designing its own Bluetooth and Wi-Fi chips called Proxima, to be released this year.
Conclusion
To take the lead from Sony in the iPhone camera business, Samsung is focusing on innovation.
Samsung wants to gain a large share of sales and become one of the key players in the field of production of high-performance smartphone cameras by taking advantage of its production capabilities and by ensuring buyers fully understand the benefits of using its technology.
