Tecno Spark Go 5G is here, and this phone offers so much in under ₹10,000 that it is mind-blowing! Camera, battery, design – everything is totally unexpected in this price range. I tested it thoroughly, so let’s check everything one by one and finally decide whether this phone is worth the money or not!
What do you get in the box?
As soon as you open the box, you get a clean vibe – simple and sorted. Inside you get the phone, Type-C to Type-A charging cable, SIM ejector tool, manual, and 12 months warranty card. There is also a transparent case, which is quite solid at this price. And yes, an 18W charger is also given in the box – a big deal in this segment! After unboxing it seems that Tecno has shown some class even in the budget.
Design: Looks like an iPhone vibe
The design of the phone is really cool! There is a matte finish on the back, which gives an iPhone-like vibe from a distance. It has a plastic back, but with a premium feel. Colors include Sky Blue, Ink Black, Turquoise Green, and Bikaner Red – Turquoise Green looks really different! On the side there are volume buttons and power button (along with fingerprint sensor), which are quite clicky. On the top there is a single speaker, niche Type-C port, mic, and 3.5mm headphone jack. There is also a Dual SIM + microSD slot, which is rare in this price range.
The phone weighs 194g and is 7.99mm thick – the slimmest phone in this segment! IP64 rating, which means protection from water splashes and dust. It feels a bit big in the hand, but if you put on a cover, the grip becomes absolutely perfect. If you keep it on a table, there is no wobbling as the camera module is flat – there is no problem in typing or using it.
Display: Large and Decent
6.74-inch IPS LCD display, with 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate. It has 700 nits HBM brightness, which is great indoors but can be a bit of a problem outdoors. The U-shaped notch feels a bit old and the bezels are a bit big but it is acceptable at this price. 1080p content plays smoothly on YouTube but can sometimes stutter at 2K. There is no HDR support but the colours and contrast are decent for this segment.
Performance: Can you even play gaming on a budget?
It has MediaTek Dimensity 6400 (6nm) processor which comes with 4GB LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB eMMC 5.1 storage. You can add 4GB more from Virtual RAM, then the total becomes 8GB. The UI of HiOS 15 (Android 15) is very smooth, but sometimes there is a bit of stutter – maybe it will be fixed with future updates.
In daily use, apps open quickly, and there is no major problem in multitasking. In gaming, BGMI gives 60fps on smooth settings – perfect for casual gamers. COD Mobile also runs fine, but there is a slight delay in gyro. Heating control is good with 87% CPU throttle – the phone does not get too hot even after long gaming.
Battery: Will last for two days!
The 6000mAh battery is the biggest plus point of this phone! It easily lasts for 2-2.5 days in light usage (Instagram, calls, WhatsApp). Even in heavy usage (gaming, videos) it gives 1-1.5 days of backup. 50% charge is done in ~40-45 minutes with the 18W charger and full charge is done in ~80-90 minutes.
Camera: Decent, but what’s lacking?
There is a 50MP main camera and a secondary sensor at the back and a 5MP selfie camera at the front. The main camera gives sharp photos in good lighting – colours are natural and details are fine. Photos become a little soft in low light. The edge detection is good in portrait mode. The front camera also gives decent selfies in good light, but struggles in low light. Both the cameras have 2K 30fps video recording, which is a big deal at this price.
Audio and Extras: Work well
There is a single speaker, which is quite loud at this price, but the bass is a bit less. There is a 3.5mm headphone jack. There is an IR Blaster – you can control TV or AC. The side-mounted fingerprint sensor is fast and accurate. There is 5G (with 4×4 MIMO), Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.3, and 20 sensors, including a dedicated proximity sensor. There is also a No Network Communication feature, which connects to nearby devices without a network. There is no NFC.
Software: Smooth, but a little bloat
HiOS 15 (Android 15) is smooth, but there are some bloatware (hot apps, hot games), which can be uninstalled or disabled. Animations are fluid, and the Dynamic Port feature is great for notifications – shows cool animations while charging or unlocking. Ella AI supports multiple Indian languages, and there are also AI features like Circle to Search. OS updates will be available in 2 years.
Pricing: Value For Money?
4GB+128GB variant price is ₹9,999, and it will be available on Flipkart from 21 August. Sky Blue, Ink Black, Turquoise Green, and Bikaner Red colors are available.
