The new WhatsApp beta for Android users is out through the Google Play Beta Program, WhatsApp Beta for Android 2.25.7.2. We are bringing a new feature that makes it easier to manage community group chats by introducing a dedicated list within Chats tab and users can add those members to list and group them in the Chat tab itself. As part of WhatsApp’s effort to enhance the way in which users communicate with communities and maintain organized chat conversations, this change is being done.
Today in this article we will see what features we get in WhatsApp Beta for Android 2.25.7.2.
What’s New? Communities List Feature
A feature present in this update is to let users create a separate list to filter through their community group chats. The idea is to be able to browse, access, and manage communities easier more so without mixing with personal chats. Below are the important bits of information about this feature.
- Feature Name: Communities List
- Status: Rolling out
- Compatibility: Available on WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.7.2
- Availability: Currently accessible to some beta testers, with a wider rollout planned in the coming weeks
- Credits: Thanks to Akan and Filipe Ramon for testing and reporting this feature
How the Communities List Works
Some users that install this update will have a pop up message when they open the Communities tab for the first time. It will prompt them with the choice to add a specialized list devoted to community group chats. If agreed, WhatsApp will introduce a new tab located in the Chats tab that will contain only community group chats. Those who take it a step further and select not to activate the feature at this stage will then see a banner top of the community group chats list giving you the option to activate it later.
Should users find that they no longer require one of the lists, the removable list can also be deleted from the app settings and restored as needed.
Like any chat filters, it’s a pretty nifty feature that makes it simple for the users to switch easily between the personal chats and the community discussions without the mess.
This is why WhatsApp makes this change.
With the widespread adoption of communities, WhatsApp is continually on the move to give users a better chance of managing their chats. In past updates, WhatsApp offered ways to help in creating groups and communities. Keeping the best of the improvements, this update provides better chat organization.
Also, WhatsApp is replacing its Communities tab by a new section powered by AI chats. As the Communities tab is being removed, WhatsApp is bringing together community group chats with chats in the new Chats tab and keeping them accessible in the new filtering system.
Our goal is to provide a cleaner and more intuitive management of their users’ community interactions without getting overwhelmed or discouraged.
Benefits of the Communities List Feature
Several advantages come with the new Communities List feature being introduced to WhatsApp users.
- Separates community group chats from personal and work — thus, making organization much easier.
- Quick: Rather than scrolling through multiple chats, users are now able to find all their community groups in one place.
- Smooth Transition from Community Tab to Chat Tab: The interface is made simple so that the community tab to chat tab transition is easy and smooth.
- Users Are Able To Disable The Feature They Prefer Not To Use, Then At Any Time In The App Settings It Can Be Reenabled.
What’s Next for WhatsApp?
The update is one of several that WhatsApp has in the works to enhance how users engage with lists such as groups and communities. As WhatsApp works towards implementing AI-powered features, there will be more refinements in the future to chat filtering and organization over the coming months.
At the moment, the Communities list feature is only available to a small, select group of beta testers and will be expanded gradually to more and more people. Join the WhatsApp Beta Program on the Google Play Store so those who are interested in trying newer features early can do so.
