WhatsApp is a very popular chatting app, and it keeps testing new features from time to time. Now again WhatsApp is bringing a new update, which is WhatsApp Beta for iOS 25.20.10.78. This feature has come for iPhone users and is currently available only for WhatsApp beta. In this latest version, WhatsApp is now starting to show Status Ads and Promoted Channels directly in the Updates tab.
This means WhatsApp users will now start seeing some sponsored content while using the app. This new feature is available only to some beta users, and more people will start getting it in the coming time.
Status Ads and Promoted Channels in the New Update
In the beta version of WhatsApp, a new update is added that brings advertising content into the app. With this new update, WhatsApp adds Status Ads and Promoted Channels, which means businesses and creators can now show sponsored content inside the Updates tab. These sponsored posts are added in a way that they don’t disturb private chats or groups.
With Status Ads, users will start seeing ads between normal statuses. These ads are clearly marked, and they appear just like regular status updates. Users can see them and skip them by swiping, just like they swipe normal statuses.
If a user doesn’t like an ad, they can block that advertiser. This makes the feature easy and safe for users while still allowing businesses to promote their content.
How Promoted Channels Help Brands and Creators
In this new update, WhatsApp is also adding Promoted Channels to help public channels get more visibility. These channels will appear at the top of the directory, making it easier for people to discover new and interesting content.
For example, a food channel from a restaurant can now promote itself and reach more users who are searching for similar things. These promoted channels will also have a tag showing they are sponsored, so users will know it is a paid promotion. This feature will help creators and businesses grow their audience without needing to go outside WhatsApp for promotion.
User Privacy and Sponsored Content
Even though WhatsApp is adding ads, all the sponsored content will only show in the Updates tab. Your private messages, groups, calls, and chats remain completely safe and private. WhatsApp shows a banner in the Updates tab explaining how this feature works and clearly says that end-to-end encryption still protects your chats.
WhatsApp does not use your chats or private data to decide which ads to show. It only uses general info like your region, app language, and which channels you follow. If users want, they can link their account to Meta’s Accounts Center, but this is off by default.
New Report Option to Track Ads You See
In this new beta update, WhatsApp also gives a report option where users can see all the ads they have seen. The report shows the date, ad name, and advertiser. This helps users remember which ads they interacted with and block them if needed. From the settings menu, users can also manage ads and block advertisers easily without leaving the app.
Feature Rolling Out Slowly to Beta Users
The Status Ads and Promoted Channels feature is only available in WhatsApp Beta for iOS 25.20.10.78 for now. It is still in the testing phase and will take time to reach all users. If someone has installed the beta update and still doesn’t see this feature, that means it is still rolling out and will reach more users slowly.
WhatsApp Makes Ads Part of the App Without Breaking Privacy
The new feature of Status Ads and Promoted Channels is WhatsApp’s way of bringing ads to the platform in a smooth and private way. Users can see promoted content in the Updates tab while their personal chats stay safe and encrypted. This update will help creators and brands reach more users, and users will still enjoy full privacy and control over their app experience.
