WhatsApp is one of the most used messaging apps, and it keeps working on new features regularly to make the app better and more useful. The WhatsApp weekly update is focusing on two new features that are currently under development, and they are expected to be released in future updates. The first feature allows channel admins to share questions in their channels, and the second feature will let users preview status updates right from the chat list.
In today’s article, we explain what’s coming in this WhatsApp weekly update and why these features are important for better engagement and interaction on WhatsApp.
Channel Question Message
In the article about the WhatsApp beta for the iOS 25.20.10.73 update, we announced that WhatsApp is developing a feature that allows admins to share questions in their channels. This feature is designed to help admins connect more closely with their audience by collecting feedback, ideas, or starting interactive discussions inside the channel.
As you can see from the attached screenshot, WhatsApp is working on adding a new “Questions” option in the chat attachment menu. Admins can tap this option, write a question, and share it in the channel as a new update. Once posted, followers who see the update will be able to respond directly with their answers.
All the replies to the question will only be visible to the channel admin. This means no other followers in the channel can see or react to the responses, ensuring full privacy and comfort when submitting feedback.
Admins can easily check all the replies by opening the question message, and if they decide to delete it, all related answers will be deleted too and cannot be recovered.
Status Update Preview In Chat List
Another feature under development is the ability to see status updates directly inside the chat list. Right now, WhatsApp shows status updates only in the status tab. But with this new improvement, some users will be able to view small previews of new status updates in the chat section too.
This feature will make status updates more visible and easier to discover without needing to switch to the separate tab. It helps users stay updated with what their contacts are sharing and brings more life into the main screen of WhatsApp.
The preview will appear only if a contact has posted a new status. So while scrolling through the chat list, users will automatically notice who has shared an update and can tap it to view more. This improvement is expected to increase the overall usage of the status feature and make it more accessible for users who don’t often check the status tab manually.
Why These Features Are Useful
Both of these upcoming features are focused on increasing interaction inside the app. With the new question message, WhatsApp is giving admins a better tool to engage their audience, collect responses, and make the channel space more interactive.
At the same time, the new status preview feature makes it faster and easier to catch up on what friends and contacts are posting. It helps make the app feel more active and connected. By working on these features, WhatsApp is improving the overall experience for both regular users and channel creators. The app is becoming more engaging, organized, and user-friendly.
Availability
These features are still under development and not available to any beta testers yet. They will be released in a future update once development is complete. Both Android and iOS versions of WhatsApp will get these improvements in the coming updates.
If you don’t see these features right now, it means they are not rolled out yet and will arrive later once testing is done.
